Welcome to our Walking in the Promises study.
As believers in Jesus Christ, we have been given tremendous promises for the here, now, and eternity. These promises constitute the basis of our faith.
The really cool thing about placing our trust in God’s word is that when we do so, we are really placing our trust in God’s promises. Some of those are the promises to redeem us from sin, to make us whole, to give us eternal life in heaven, to provide for all our needs, and even the promise to judge sin and those who reject Him. While we could study the core tenets of the faith, and perhaps one day we will, this month, we wanted to focus on the path we take to possessing the promises of God. And we have a beautiful book of the Bible that points the way to that: the book of Joshua.
Our goal in this study is that we learn key lessons from the book of Joshua and allow the Lord to show us how to exercise our faith so that our lives are marked eternally by the promises we choose to believe. Let’s invite God’s word to refine, purify, and lead us from glory to glory.

Week One: Joshua’s Background
It’s interesting to know that for Joshua to be Moses’s aid at this point in the journey, he would have been born in Egypt. He would have seen the events in Exodus 7-11, including the crossing of the Red Sea. From an early age, he was being shaped by these events and had a front row seat to the work of God.
Week Two: Rahab’s Story
We are going to look at this fascinating story with a focus on Rahab, the prostitute. She finds herself in a most challenging situation, due to no fault of her own. How she responds, and the end result of her actions, is nothing short of amazing!
Week Three: Passover and a New Source of Provision
God’s people observed the Passover on the plains of Jericho... their first Passover in the new land, and possibly their first in a long while as we can safely presume the tradition fell away in their 40 years of wandering. And second, the manna God was sending from above stopped raining down,, replaced with the “fruit of the land of Cannan”.
Week Four: God’s Judgment: “Utterly Destroyed” or “Brought out”
We can’t look at Joshua 6 without talking at least a little bit about God’s Judgment. Just as God made great and wonderful promises to His people, He also promised to drive out and destroy nations. This can be hard for us to understand because we know God is a God of mercy. But His word says He is also a God of justice.

Hi! We are Arabah Joy (from arabahjoy.com) and Jen Evangelista (from graceincolor.com) and we both have decades of ministry experience.
