Part One: No Condemnation
Salvation is not a “distant transaction”. We are made alive and united, spiritually speaking, with Christ. We
are grafted into Christ, so everything that Jesus has accomplished is ours! His death was ours. His victory is
ours.
Part Three: The Spirit Who Gives Life
In our text, Romans 8:9-11, Paul continues his contrast between those in the flesh (unbelievers) and those in
the Spirit (believers). His point in vv5-8 was the total inability of those in the flesh. They are unable to submit
to God and do anything to save themselves. Thus, salvation is a miracle.
Part Five: The Spirit of Adoption
This whole chapter (Romans 8) has been building the case that there are two ways to live —in the flesh or in
the Spirit—and here, Paul gets right to the heart of the matter. “All who are led by the Spirit of God are sons
of God.”
