Welcome to our Made for Community study.
In this study, we’ll be doing a thematic study. Thematic studies provide a general overview of what the Bible says about any given subject or theme. One of the benefits of this type of study is that it isn’t quite as in-depth as a topical study. This means it isn’t as time consuming or laborious. Thematic studies involve asking the same set of questions of each Scripture reference, drawing conclusions, and applying it to your own life.
We hope this study is reassuring, challenging, and practical as together, we seek to deepen ourspiritual friendships with one another.
Our study is broken down into four mini-thematic studies and this kit includes everything you need to complete them. We’ll begin by looking at what friendship is and how to choose friends based on the beautiful friendship of Jonathan and David.
Next, we’ll examine the benefits of spiritual community and specific ways we as Christians are to love and care for one another.
Then we’ll look at hospitality and befriending strangers. The way we care for others outside our sphere of influence is extremely important. We’ll learn how to serve Christ by reaching beyond our comfort zone.
Finally, we’ll wrap up by exploring the friendship of Christ. Some may find friendship with others disappointing; however, God is a faithful friend who walks and talks with us and invites us to sup at His table.
